From news service WBAY Chicago via Fox Business Chicago, a source close to the investigation into Officer Robert Apple of the Riverwoods: Police released 911 tapes on Tuesday night which captured phone lines of an alleged thief talking to a responding St. Louis City of Missouri dispatcher and telling the police officer who was allegedly trying to snatch one vehicle from their lot: "'Come out the damn way. This car has come down the street.'" According to another source "That is, he didn't appear to do any wrong."

Officer Patrick Straub was pronounced dead during the traffic stop. Authorities at 2pm still could not confirm, but a report by state media outlet WJLA first tweeted (though was eventually taken back and has been archived) said officers shot when "in a volley of gunfire several officers opened fire immediately after approaching suspect, suspect was fatally shot". This past Sunday Illinois State Policeman shot 5 times & injured after officers allegedly opened up on motorist suspected of stealing an Impound (motorists).
